Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts-Taste Cafe in Boston

This is an incredibly well appointed, well run museum. A huge collection of artifacts from all over the world and across the entire breadth of human history. And the restaurants are even fantastic. There's not a whole lot more you can ask of a museum. When you can spend an entire day at a museum and not take everything in yet still see more than you expected, it's a win.

I went to the MFA in January 2020 and needless to say, I am waiting to return to the Museum to see what is in store for us! The interiors and the exhibits are a treat for curious eyes. Special mention of my tour guide - Carol who showed around the Museum in all its resplendent glory! She was patient, kind and super fun to walk around with. Waiting to return..

Wonderful Smithsonian class museum that you can spend over two days at. I just wish maintenance would replace the broken flicking light bulbs at several of the exhibits. There are shops to browse and plenty of eating choices just wear good comfortable walking shoes.

Can't recommend highly enough! You'll see many artworks you will recognize but you'll also discover other pieces that delight. A truly magnificent but not overwhelming museum, we are so blessed to have this gem in our city.

So many beautiful pieces and exhibits. Definitely too much to fully take in during one visit (if you walk slowly and stop to stare at almost everything, like I do). I'd probably skip the cafe and save my appetite and wallet for the good restaurants well within walking distance of the museum.

I don’t usually visit museums, but the wife and I decided to give the MFA a shot on a recent trip and loved it. From the architecture of the building to the amazing sculptures and paintings from various cultures and times, we were quite entertained. It was too bad the Mummies exhibit was under renovation, but it gives us a reason to go back. The only thing that struck me was the lack of Central and South American art.

Great exhibitions for Black History. The museum is a treasure trove of amazing artists from all over the world. Definitely visiting with family.

I always leave the MFA with a smile on my face. Even during hectic weekends when crowds pour in, there is a special peace I can find here that no other place offers. Boston is lucky to have such a wonderful institution.

Great job on the Nubian Exhibit! I love the different "voices" that appear in the written materials. I was surprised and impressed at the discussion about the white-washing of Egypt b/the entire East African region shares the same art, culture, science and history (recently traveled to Ethiopia). I think trials that the MFA is experiencing regarding race reflects your ongoing willingness to change and stick your neck out. It's hard, but as an African American whose been visiting the museum since childhood, I really appreciate the change. Thank you and nice job!

I love going here on Wednesday when it's free. It's fun to just walk around and admire all the art. It's a very relaxing experience

Reasonably priced at 25 $ for the day and good for a second visit within 10 days. Only gave it 4 stars because its about 30 $ parking if your there for the day. Also, there hard floors make certain peoples feet hurt after 5 hours of walking around. Great art to look at and also lots to learn.

MFA of Boston should be in "Must see" list of items regardless - if you are just visiting Boston for a few days or living here for awhile. I would definitely recommend to be here once in a few years (or as soon as anything interesting displaying there for you). Parking sometimes can be tricky - but I was able to find a spot every time I went there. Also consider to use ground transportation.

Amazing experience. A great place for young adults and adults. Younger kids may find it boring.There is a coatroom area to leave your belongings in if you need to. The exhibits her are amazing and interesting and intriguing.I definitely will be visiting again!

Visited the Museum of Fine Arts during the Lunar New Year Celebration with free admission. The long line of several hundred people waiting to get in moved rather quickly. Inside it was very spacious and didn't seem crowded at all. The exhibits just go on and on! It can be a bit overwhelming so take your time.

Oh man I love this place it's so full of fun culture from all over the world. I remember going here as a kid back in my younger day had a blast back then so I had to come back 20 years later ,and it's even better than before so much more has been add to the place trust me you might not leave with how much culture is crammed into this building and don't forget to check out the rock Garden outside as well.

One of the best museums I visited. The place is huge and one cannot cover it in one day - there is so much going on. MFA has great collection of art ranging from ancient times to contemporary art. We visited general collection, Hyman Bloom exhibition which was very interesting and took Highlight tour led by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable docent. Museum has several cafeterias, great boutique, free coat check, plenty of tours and exhibitions. Highly recommend.

A-one of the best museums I've ever been to, definitely went beyond my expectations! Stunning collections, think London's V&A, British Museum and the National Gallery combined, the museum name doesn't really reflect its collections entirely. Spent many hours there, there's a lot to see!

One of the best museums I've been to. Excellent shows, and a amazing collection of art and artifacts that is rotating. One of the best American collections of Egyptian art in the world, as well as collection of Monet in America.

Stunning museum with beautiful pieces set in breathtaking architecture. I particularly enjoyed the the Hyman Bloom exposition. Additionally, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at their restaurant. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing museum, great atmosphere for wondering around during an afternoon or a date. Staff is always friendly, and I am a fan of their Impressionism pieces. If you are a local, I’d recommend the annual membership it’s a great price. Last but not least, if you have a Bank of America account the first weekend it has free admission.

Absolutely incredible. Hall after hall of incredible paintings, small and humongous. The descriptions are well written, informative, and interesting. The artifacts from ancient civilizations are amazing to see and there's a great size collection of them. It'll most likely take more than one day to really see it all. I can't wait to go again.

This museum is really on of a kind. You'll get to see interesting masterpieces by meticulous artists. All in all, my experience was great here, especially if you're interested to history.

The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870 and was initially located on the top floor of the Boston Athenaeum and most of its initial collection came from the Athenæum's Art Gallery. Francis Davis Millet, a local artist, was instrumental in starting the Art School affiliated with the museum, and in appointing Emil Otto Grundmann as its first director. In 1876, the museum moved to a highly ornamented brick Gothic Revival building designed by John Hubbard Sturgis and Charles Brigham, noted for its massed architectural terracotta. It was located in Copley Square at Dartmouth and St. James Streets.[3] It was built almost entirely of brick and terracotta, which was imported from England, with some stone about its base. After the MFA moved out in 1907, this original building was demolished, and the Copley Plaza Hotel (now the Fairmont Copley Plaza) replaced it in 1912.Wikipedia

I went here for a day trip and I was glad to find out that they give student discounts for local college students! The museum is wonderful and has plenty of interesting pieces!

This is a cool place with a lot of interesting exhibits that you definitely want to allocate a lot of time to see. Several different options for grabbing food. It was a bit difficult to navigate with several staircases being closed halfway through or parts of exhibits being closed forcing us to walk around a different way, but the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Exquisite and delightful experience at the MFA Boston.Today's visit was splendid, this place is fun to explore accompanied by family or friends to have a great time learning facts about the Boston designers influence in the jewerly design and also gain knowledge about everything else in between throughout the art and a little bit of history around the world.As we had spend time viewing everything on the first level and part of the second level we definitely have to continue another time to enjoy the full gallery and the section dedicated to women in the arts on the third level.

Pollock's monumental work is curated wonderfully with one of his smaller murals. A captivating Black History collection is curated by young artists from local high schools. The Weng family works, the Islamic art - this is a breathtaking display of eclectic artistic excellence

Classic art from the European and American masters and historical exhibits plus modern art. Modern art doesn't interest me but the more traditional art took my breath away multiple times. My husband and I will be going back again as there was so much to see that we didn't get to it all. It was truly a pleasure to see art from masters like Botticelli.

The exhibits are well curated and the building is quite impressive. The food choices inside are a bit limited and the layout of the pieces of art are tight. Nontheless, its a decent museum if a bit on the small side. Its trying to entice more young people to visit and I think they are doing a good job. Worth a visit 2-3 times a year.

What an amazing museum. Regardless of whether you like fine European art or more contemporary styles, you will fine something that suits your fancy. I had the pleasure of being able to see the Hyman Bloom exhibit, which was stunning and chilling. I went with a medium sized group, and we all had different favorites, and left with a story to tell of the beautiful pieces we saw.

Wonderful, world class collection. Interactive programs. Meander. Have a blast exploring. Very encouraging of artists sketching and creating. Excellent customer service and staff. Oh, and the murals of John Singer Sargent are extraordinary! I just got a membership because I know I'm coming back!

An amazing facility with an outstanding array of works. I end up here every 5 years or so and am always impressed and can easily lose my self for an entire day. You won't be disappointed as their collection spans the entire eath's history and there is something for everyone. Staff is friendly and very helpful, they just couldn't get better thank you for another wonderful experience!

The MFA is amazing. We've been members for a few years now and love popping in for an hour or two and exploring a different room or two. My 5 year old is just now reaching an age where she loves to interact with the art by examining and trying to draw what she sees. The space is warm and welcoming and there's always something new and fantastic to see

Great museum, but I hold a particular gripe about the new exhibit on Egyptian and North African art. None of these artifacts were manufactured or constructed by Nubian peoples. They were the works of Mediterranean and Arabic peoples residing in North African regions. It is a historical fact that the native Nubian peoples of these regions were servants to these colonial powers. Stop lying to the general public and falsifying history to simply appease the “politically correct” crowd.

Honestly amazing. They have a coat check. Lots of parking. Elevators and everything in wheelchair accessible. There is a wide selection of delicacies in the food court. Fabulous gift shop with lots of practical items. There are public restrooms. The art is indescribable. And the sculptures are simply magnificent.

Wonderful exhibits that are constantly changing. It's worth getting the membership card. You can go every month and never get bored. Always lots of new exhibits to see. Cafe in the atrium has great food and fast service so you can enjoy the entire day at the museum without ever leaving.

It's a wonderful place for artists and art lovers. One day isn't really enough to see everything. I had a surprise proposal shoot in this place and it's the best and a very unique place to choose to propose someone you love. No flash allowed though, but quite challenging to photograph. It was quite an experience.

The MFA is a gem in Boston. Expansive, great collections, good rotations for exhibitions. All together under one roof. Certainly an experience that cannot be missed. Would recommend an annual pass as spending all day would still not allow a full grasp of the space and all it contains.

Yup one of the best in the world. Just the right amount of everything. And Always vibrant. The events are great too. Always look out for them and sign up when you can.

Entry is $25. Parking is $20. Spent 2 hours here! Loved the different art pieces here ranging from European arts to Indo-Chinese arts! My favorite section is the Egyptian section; it's just mystical and fascinating! Would recommend this wonderful place 100%

Amazing art gallery. Leave plenty of time to get around to all floors and rooms. You will be some extremely famous painters all throughout the gallery. Don't forget that your ticket will allow you back in again over the 7days for free. Also has a great range of food options from bars to Cafe to full restaurant. And a chance to purchase your favourite artist in the bookshop on the way out.

This museum is not for the light of heart. With arts from around the globe, this museum will take a full day if you stop and admire/read every placard. 3 floors span the massive location with a lunch restaurant located close to the middle. Bring your walking shoes, a 60gb SD card and be ready to learn and be inspired by the massive collection of fine arts and history.

This is such an experience... The building is massive - I really wish I had 10 hours to walk the entire thing, but sadly I was on a time crunch. The entry is extremely reasonable, and the staff is helpful through and through. Everyone inside was respectful, and I loved every minute of being there.

I am a member of the MFA it is through the park behind my apartment..It is ever changing offers studio and degree classes.. The art is amazing, the restaurants are all wonderful.. The outside garden is peaceful...We are so lucky to have an amazing museum right in our backyard!
